Exploration of Character Design

Cow Puncher

 

Starting with a bust that was trying to be Robert Mitchum, I added a rather heroic frame and decked it out as a ranch hand. Then I took it a step further and added the holster and sidearm, a must for any Hollywood coyboy. This project began in Sculptris, and progressed through both Maya and 3D Studio Max, but was brought to completion in Mudbox.

This is a recent character, incorporating newly aquired sculpting techniques. It was created in Sculptris, retopologized in Maya, and textured with sculptured details and paint layers in Mudbox.

Starfighter Pilot


This project, being my 1st complete character model, was important as much for its mistakes as for the exercise in forms. It gave me an opportunity to refine my UV unfolding process with express methods.
